With the fund, the Equal Opportunity Office supports projects that contribute to the qualification and career development of women and/or TIN* persons at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. In addition, the Equal Opportunity Office uses the Women's Promotion Fund to support projects that focus on gender issues in research and teaching or aim to increase the proportion of female and/or TIN* students in STEM subjects.
Funding lines:
I. Funding for female and/or TIN* students
Funding of students' projects that serve their studies and qualification
II. Support for female and/or TIN* scientific and artistic employees and doctoral students
Support for the qualification of female and/or TIN* scientific and artistic employees and doctoral candidates
III. Funding of projects
(a) to increase the proportion of women and/or TIN* persons in STEM courses of study
(b) on the topic of gender in teaching and research
Interdisciplinary projects are explicitly encouraged.
We support sustainable travel. Air travel of less than 1,000 km can therefore only be accepted in well-founded exceptional cases.
You will need the following for your application (in addition to the online form):
I. Description of the project (max. one A4 page):
a. Designation of the funding line
b. Description of the objective and explanation of the project
c. Explanation of the feasibility of the project
d. Information on the significance of the project for your further personal development in studies and professional/academic career (funding line I. and II.)
e. Person(s) responsible for carrying out the project, other contributors to the project
II. Time and financial planning detailed time and financial plan:
List of all costs to be incurred
planned use of the fund's resources

With this fund, the Equal Opportunity Office supports congress trips or exhibition participations that contribute to the qualification and career development of women and/or TIN* persons at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Funding can be provided for:
I. a congress or event participation in Germany or abroad or participation in online conferences with own contribution (submitted and accepted piece of work, lecture, poster presentation, paper).
max. funding amount: 500 €
II. Participation in a congress or event in Germany or abroad or participation in online conferences without own contribution, if this serves the applicant's own qualification work or professional development.
max. funding amount: 200 €
The funding commitment is subject to the provision of funds.
We support sustainable travel. Air travel of less than 1,000 km can therefore only be accepted in well-founded exceptional cases.

As a measure to promote gender equality, the Equal Opportunity Office’s »Equalisation Fund for Women Who Are Professors, Junior Professors or Scientific/ Artistic/ Creative Employees With Committee Duties« is financed by the Professorinnenprogramm III (funding programme for female professors) of the German federal government and federal states for the period of 2022 to 2024.
The »Equalisation Fund« should serve to lessen the workload of women who are junior professors, professors or scientific or artistic/creative employees who are involved in committees at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The fund is also intended to provide additional incentives for women to become more involved in committees or in university or faculty management, so that gender parity can be established in the long-term in all university committees.
Applicants can apply for financial support for compensatory or career-promoting measures for their work in certain committees. They can decide for themselves on the exact use of the funds in terms of compensation or relief.
The application deadline for the 2024 call is February 29th.

The Equal Opportunity Office's »Publication Fund for Early Career Female Scientists and Artists« is aimed at early career female scientists and artists (i.e. women in doctoral programmes, post-docs, artistic/creative employees, and junior professors) in all faculties at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
Applicants can apply for financial support for up to 2,500 euros (incl. MwSt.) from the fund. This funding can be used towards covering the costs of publishing their scientific or artistic/design work with a publishing house or independent publishing (i.e. without working with a publishing house).
The application deadline for the 2024 call is February 29th.

To promote equal opportunity in research as well as family-friendliness, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar awards Weimar two scholarships for recommencing studies in order to facilitate continuation of a Ph.D. after a family break. The scholarship can support Ph.D. candidates who have had to interrupt their Ph.D. for family-related reasons and, following a period of parental leave or time off for dependants, now wish to complete their research and resume their Ph.D. Applicants are eligible to apply if the period of parental leave or time off for dependants lasted at least 6 months.
The deadline for applications has passed. Next deadline: expceted for 31 January 2023.
In 2024, the Bauhaus-Universität will be awarding up to 2 »MINT/STEM* Scholarships for Female Master's Students«.
With its MINT/STEM scholarships, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar supports outstanding female master’s students from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Media, who have demonstrated (or are expected to demonstrate) an outstanding performance or aptitude in their field.
Scholarship holders are awarded € 450.00 per month for a period of 12 months, as well as non-material support in the form of the opportunity to participate in accompanying workshops. The scholarship begins in April 2024. The application deadline is 31 January 2024.

This bridge scholarship is aimed at female early career researchers and artists in the transitional phase between a Master’s degree, Diplom or State Exam and a doctorate/PhD. It is intended to serve as startup funding for the development of a doctoral project.
The scholarship recipient is awarded €1,000.00 per month for a period of up to six months as well as non-material support in the form of the opportunity to participate in accompanying workshops. The scholarship holder is free to choose the funding period between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025.
The earliest deadline for applications is 31st of January 2024. Applications are possible on an ongoing basis at the latest until 31st of August 2024, depending on the awarding and the availability of funds.

It is intended to serve as startup funding for the development of a habilitation project or an academic or artistic postdoctoral project meeting high conceptual standards.
The scholarship recipient is awarded €2,000.00 per month for a period of up to six months as well as non-material support in the form of the opportunity to participate in accompanying workshops. The scholarship holder is free to choose the funding period between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025.
The earliest deadline for applications is 31st of January 2024. Applications are possible on an ongoing basis at the latest until 31st of August 2024, depending on the awarding and the availability of funds.
