Dear students, dear staff,
As we head into the 2021/2022 winter semester, we wish to inform you about the most important coronavirus measures at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, especially regarding in-person courses.
This semester, all in-person courses must comply with the 3G rule. This means that all participants must show proof that they are either fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have recovered from the virus, or must show a negative test before they are allowed to participate in the course. This regulation helps to ensure that in-person courses are safe for everyone and that the risk of infection is low.
Compliance with the 3G rule will be randomly monitored. Specially trained student employees will be asking individuals to present 3G (vaccinated, recovered, tested) proof on a randomised basis and will require proof of identity (thoska, official ID, passport). These randomised checks will be carried out either before a class begins or, in courses with fewer than 15 seats, during the class. Be sure to always carry your ID with you. Further details on the implementation of the 3G rule at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will soon be available at www.uni-weimar.de/coronavirus.
Those who require proof of testing can still make use of the free antigen testing offered at the rapid test centres in Weimar up to and including 10 October 2021. These tests are valid for 24 hours; PCR tests are valid for 48 hours. As of 11 October 2021, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will offer the option to carry out self-tests under supervision along with a written confirmation that is valid for 24 hours. This option will be free of charge for anyone who cannot be vaccinated due to medical reasons, as well as for international students who have received a vaccine that has not been approved by the Paul Ehrlich Institute. Those who do not wish to be vaccinated may bring their own tests and carry them out under supervision. [Update from 8.10.: Selftests under supervision will be free of charge until the ned of November for all university members.] The time and location of supervised self-tests has not yet been announced.
The regulations outlined in the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Basic Hygiene Plan are still in effect: medical masks (surgical or FFP2 masks) must be worn on all foot-traffic routes and anywhere a 1.5 metre distance cannot be maintained between individuals, the number of seats that can be used in rooms has been reduced by up to 50% and rooms must be regularly ventilated/aired out. Contact tracing is still required, but is not mandatory for in-person teaching events.
Finally, we wish to remind you of the special vaccination offer for all Bauhaus-Universität Weimar students and staff who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19. This event will take place on 8 and 15 October 2021. You can register to be vaccinated at https://www.impfen-thueringen.de/campusimpfen/. Appointments will still be available at short notice and no one will be turned away. You can also, of course, book a vaccination appointment for another day: https://www.impfen-thueringen.de/terminvergabe/index.php
We wish you all the best for the start of the new semester and look forward to seeing you on campus!
Sincerely,
Christian Koch
