Dear students, dear staff,
As we announced earlier, today’s Crisis Unit meeting resulted in the decision to move forward with a standardised approach to teaching at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar for the upcoming weeks. As the incidence rates in the city of Weimar were above 165 for three consecutive days (23 to 25 April), in person teaching will no longer be permitted starting tomorrow, Tuesday, 27 April 2021.
Further information on the legal grounds for this (»Vierte Gesetz zum Schutz der Bevölkerung bei einer epidemischen Lage von nationaler Tragweite« – »Bundesnotbremse«) can be found at: https://www.bundesregierung.de/breg-de/suche/bundesweite-notbremse-1888982
Teaching will be held online up to and including Friday, 21 May 2021 (public holiday »Pfingsten«). The small number of exceptions to this includes: Labs, internships, practical and artistic elements in work rooms, as well as examinations and final theses which must be held in-person. This also includes consultations and final examination preparation courses. Should you have specific questions regarding this, we ask that you contact your faculty’s dean’s office. Exceptions may be possible upon request and after consultation.
Home office regulations are still in effect. Details on this can be found in the FAQ section of the corona website.
Business travel will only be approved if absolutely necessary.
Be sure to check the corona website regularly for up-to-date information on other facilities such as the University Library and the Mensa.
The Crisis Unit and the Board of Governance are closely monitoring the incidence rates. The question of a possible return to in-person teaching will be addressed at the Crisis Unit meeting scheduled for 17 May 2021. The next steps will be shared with you in a timely manner.
What applied in the past two semesters still holds true now: We will overcome this pandemic only together, with your solidarity and support. Please do follow the regulations, keep any non-essential contact to a minimum, and meet outside if possible. Be sure to continue adhering to the regulations on hygiene, distancing, masks and proper ventilation (AHAL). The earlier we stop the increase in infection cases, the sooner we can see one another again on campus!
Thank you for all your support and cooperation with infection prevention measures at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar this summer semester.
On behalf of the Board of Governance, with warm regards,
Winfried Speitkamp
