Dear students,
The Thuringian state government has asked to share the following vaccination opportunity information with you: The Minister of Health and the Minister of Science announced yesterday that a limited allocation of vaccines will be made available exclusively to students in Thuringia. Appointments can be made starting today, Thursday 24 June, through the online vaccination portal at https://www.impfen-thueringen.de/studenten/.
Since early June, vaccination prioritisation has been lifted to include anyone over the age of 18 in Germany, and appointments are made based on availability through family doctors and the Thuringian vaccination portal. This latest vaccination opportunity is aimed explicitly at those who are not residents of Thuringia, but who are enrolled at a Thuringian university. Your thoska or enrolment certificate is sufficient proof to qualify for this opportunity. The vaccine being offered is Johnson & Johnson and it requires only a single dose. We do not have information on exact quantities yet.
Please consider whether this offer is an option for you. Helpful information on this vaccine can be found at https://www.zusammengegencorona.de/impfen/impfstoffe/alle-wichtigen-informationen-zu-janssen-von-johnson-und-johnson/ (in German); option for information in English from WHO: https://www.who.int/news-room/feature-stories/detail/the-j-j-covid-19-vaccine-what-you-need-to-know The ministries’ announcement on the vaccination campaign can be found here: https://wirtschaft.thueringen.de/ministerium/presseservice/detailseite-1/thueringen-plant-studierenden-impftage-am-ersten-juli-wochenende (in German).
To help inform and prepare international students, we encourage you to look over the following information sheet provided by the RKI, as well as the medical history sheet (available in English). [https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/Infekt/Impfen/Materialien/Downloads-COVID-19-Vektorimpfstoff/Aufklaerungsbogen-Englisch.pdf?__blob=publicationFile] This information is also available in other languages on the RKI website. The German versions can be downloaded from the vaccination portal.
We are looking for students who would volunteer in assisting international students in the vaccination process! Those willing to be part of this support pool and those would like to make use of such assistance, please get in touch with the International Office: Ms. Simone Schwark via telephone at +49 (0) 3643 582363 during the regular office hours Tue & Thur: 10 am – 12 pm & 1 pm – 4 pm or via email (simone.schwark[at]uni-weimar.de). Thank you.
Warmest wishes for the upcoming weekend
on behalf of the Board of Governance
