From 7 to 11 October the Zwiebelmarkt (onion market) will take place in Weimar. In order to avoid infection due to the expected increased number of visitors, special rules apply in the city centre of Weimar in the area of Theaterplatz, Schillerstraße and Marktplatz:

• the wearing of a mouth-nose cover (mask) during market hours is obligatory
• public entertainment such as village, town,  festivals, musical performances, fairs and dance parties are prohibited in the entire city of Weimar for the duration of the market
• within the Zwiebelmarkt area, the distribution of food is not permitted. Exceptions are stands and outside areas of restaurants approved for the 2020 Zwiebelmarkt.
