The new Thuringian Exceptional Corona Regulations come into effect on Tuesday, 1 December 2020.

Through these adapted exceptional regulations, Thuringia is implementing the requirements established by the Federal Chancellor and the heads of state governments on 25 November 2020.

New Regulations:

 

• Additional restrictions on in-person contact: gatherings in public places are limited to two households and a maximum of five people. Children under 14 years of age are excluded from this limit.

 

• Extended mask requirement: masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn in all closed spaces with public access, in designated outdoor city centre areas with heavy pedestrian traffic, in front of retail shops and in car parks, in workplaces and establishments. Workspaces where a 1.5 metre distance is maintained between individuals are excluded from this requirement.

 

• Restrictions on wholesale and retail spaces measuring 800 square metres or more.

 

These emergency regulations are in effect until 20 December.

No final decision has been made regarding Christmas and New Year’s Eve. It is, however, the goal of the state government to issue the following regulations for the dates of 23 December 2020 to 1 January 2021, in accordance with the 25 November resolution of the Ministers and the Federal Chancellor: Gatherings with closest family and friends should be possible with up to 10 individuals. Related children under 14 years of age are excluded from this limit.
