Not only are they handy, but they can also make it easier when looking for terms using search engines and ensuring that specific topics, when used in integrated communication, reach their respective target groups.
In order for this to work properly, the following points should be taken into account when creating shortcuts:
- make them short, concise and easy to remember
- make sure they are self-explanatory and »pronounceable«
- make them easy to type correctly, i.e. no umlauts or other special characters
- they should be written completely in lower case letters
- they should be bilingual, i.e. have the same meaning in both German and English
