Using the IT infrastructure

Students and staff members of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar or the College of Music FRANZ LISZT can take advantage of the university’s IT infrastructure as soon as they enrol or take up employment.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar maintains a university-wide computer network with WLAN access points, central data storage and printing systems. University employees have access to the IP telephone network and students can access the network from their halls of student residence.

All members of the university are issued a personal user ID which allows them to access the infrastructure. They also receive a free e-mail address in the domain of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and storage space on the central storage system. In addition to saving personal files, users can also apply for a file-storage option, commonly called »project storage space«, which other system users can access.

Personal user ID

The first step for employees and university members is to obtain a personal user ID. The personal log-in authorises the use of the university's IT infrastructure.

E-Mail

The personal user ID is also linked to a personal e-mail address in the Bauhaus-Universität domain for all of its members.

Printing

Whether printing, copying or scanning - devices are available to members of the university throughout the campus and in the PC pools of the SCC. Printing of large-format drawings is possible on plotters in the SCC PC pools.

WIFI

There is access to the internet via WIFI in many areas and buildings of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus. For secure and encrypted access, we recommend accessing the WIFI network via »eduroam«.

IP telephony

Employees can use telephones, modem and fax services as well as business mobile phones easily and reliably via the university's telephone infrastructure and with other services related to IP telephony.

Publishing WWW pages

As a further service, the SCC offers all members of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar the opportunity to publish websites they have created themselves via a university web user server.

SCC computer pools for teaching courses

The computer pools of the SCC can be used for teaching courses, free practising by students or for training staff.

For general IT problems and security questions as well as any software usage questions, please contact the IT contact persons of the individual faculties only.

The SCC offers consultation for departments and facilities on the acquisition, exchange or repair of hardware.

Remote maintenance with »BeyondTrust« – In the case of questions and problems, users and their support staff can also access a remote maintenance solution.
