The Office of the Chancellor is headed by the chancellor. The chancellor is nominated by the president and is selected in agreement with the University Council and elected by the Senate. The registrar is then officially appointed to the position by the responsible state minister for university affairs. The standard term of office is eight years.
Thechancellor is a member of the presidium of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and is charge of administrative duties (all service-providing units assigned to the chancellor are designated as administrative areas) under the responsibility of the president irrespective of the special areas of responsibility of the other members of the presidium.
The chancellor is the representative for all budgetary matters.
The Office of the Chancellor is an administrative office which comprises the legal department, internal auditing department and the Service Centre for Security Management.
