The one-day symposium "Global Bauhaus": Campus - Heritage - Climate, organised by the International Heritage Centre of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar sheds light on Bauhaus heritage in a broader sense. The focus will be on university buildings and campuses of the 20th century whose construction is directly or indirectly linked to the spread of architectural and urban planning ideas of the Neues Bauen across the globe.
The focus is particularly on university campuses located in tropical and subtropical regions. Not only questions of architectural-historical evaluation, but also the special challenges of building technology and building climate will be considered. The interactions between construction, material and climate on the one hand, and preservation and resilience in accordance with the guidelines for historical monuments on the other, are questions which, in view of climate change, also appear to be urgent for Central and Northern European regions. They represent the third level of the symposium in the English language.
