Last year, we as a student body decided in a ballot to switch to the Deutschland-Semesterticket. The Deutschland-Semesterticket is linked to the price of the regular Deutschlandticket. As the price of the Deutschlandticket has risen to €58/month, the price of our Deutschland semester ticket has also automatically increased. For this reason, we are holding another ballot on the future semester ticket.
The two semester ticket models
For the coming winter semester 2025/26, we can choose between two different semester ticket models:
Our current ticket, the Deutschland-Semesterticket, works like a normal Deutschlandticket and allows you to use regional and local public transport throughout Germany. It costs 60% of the regular Deutschlandticket price. The new price is €34.80/month or €208.80/semester. As before, the ticket is available digitally via the Erfurt Mobil app.
The alternative is the Thüringen-Semesterticket. This is valid for local public transport in most of Thuringia. It includes most regional trains as well as city and intercity buses in the Verkehrsbund Mittelthüringen. The price depends on how many Thuringian student bodies will use the ticket from the winter semester onwards. It is therefore not possible to predict the exact price at present. It will be between €22.49/month and €23.46 or €134.92/semester and €140.71/semester. The Thüringen-Semesterticket is only available as an imprint on the thoska. A discounted upgrade to the Deutschlandticket is not possible.
Note: As before, the semester ticket costs are paid as part of the semester fee before the start of the semester. The monthly costs stated are only for better comparability.
Ballot
In the ballot, we will vote on the following question:
Are you in favor of our student body continuing to receive the Deutschland-Semesterticket from the winter semester 2025/26?
If the majority votes yes, we will continue to use the Deutschland-Semesterticket at its new price from the coming winter semester. If the majority votes no, we will switch back to the Thüringen-Semesterticket from the coming winter semester.
The vote of the ballot applies to all students of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar!
The ballot will take place online from May 5 to May 9, 2025.
