All user areas of the University Library are now closed for the fourth week. Up-to-date information on the services we are providing during the crisis can be found on our webpage. We have also created an FAQ section where we address recent important questions about the University Library. Our digital offers continue to be highly relevant in this situation and we are excited to be able to share some new offers in this newsletter. Certain provider - in this case, JSTOR -have thoughtfully expanded their offers during the crisis. We are also pleased to announce that we have been able to organize free testing phases for new offers such as the streaming service Kanopy and the online digital encyclopedia »Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Communication«. But work at the library does not end here; we are also doing our best to support digital teaching - something which is expected to place a major role in the upcoming summer semester.  An overview of current offers can be found in the »Digital Toolbox« compiled by the eLab.

The digital library JSTOR provides an extensive range of digital scientific publications from a number of publishers in various disciplines. The University Library in Weimar has a subscription to some of the JSTOR collections and offers them within our university network through DBIS.
In response to the coronavirus crisis, JSTOR is extending free access to all collections until 30. June, 2020.
An overview of the additional content currently available can be found here. Bauhaus-Universität Weimar members can access all JSTOR content from outside the university network through Shibboleth.

The University Library is now offering the latest version of the BKI Kostenplaner, which includes Statistics, Statistics Plus, and Research modules.  The BKI Kostenplaner is accessible across campus via Databses on Demand (DBOD) and remotely through Shibboleth.

»Kostenplaner 2020 – Statistik plus« allows users to create professional cost projections according to DIN 276 or BKI design specifications for new buildings, old buildings, interiors, and outdoor facilities.
In addition, individual property selection, the subdivision of DIN 276, and an extended search function in the BKI construction cost are also possible.  
The programme includes over 1,000,000 cost parameters for comparable properties, building prices indexes, and regional factors.  Photos, drawings, and building descriptions are also included in the programme.

Oxford University Press (OUP) is creating dynamic online encyclopedias for more than 20 disciplines with the »Oxford Research Encyclopedias«. The »Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Communication« is a completely online digital encyclopedia that covers the diverse scientific world of communication research. Articles in the Encyclopedia are based on the latest and most impactful research findings. We are excited to be able to offer campus access until the end of the year and are of course interested in your feedback, which can be submitted via e-mail to info@ub.uni-weimar.de.
The database can be remotely accessed by using a VPN.

The corona crisis has shown us how important is it to have free access to scientific publications, research data, and teaching and learning materials.  Scientists and scholars can publish high quality work in Open Access with Creative Commons copyright licences.
The University Library offers you support in publishing your work in Open Access. Scientific articles in Gold Open Access journals and Open Access Monographs may be eligible to receive funding from the Open Access Publication Fund.   Further information regarding eligibility and the application procedure can be found here.
