As announced in autumn of 2019, after the Alice Merton and Tim Bendzko shows were filmed, the series zdf@bauhaus will continue in the University Library’s entrance area in 2020, to be precise, on October 26^th and 27^th. On each of those days two shows will be filmed in the late afternoons and evenings, to be broadcast on 3sat partly within the year. As an infection prevention measure, there will be no live audience. The ZDF has developed a detailed hygiene policy, which will apply during the whole setup and shoot. According to the policy there should be no contact between the zdf@bauhaus crew and library visitors.
Please allow for some interference with the usual library service starting on Friday, October 23^rd. As in autumn 2019, setup and preparations cannot proceed silently. There will be only limited access to the wardrobe areas and bathrooms in the lower entrance area. On both days the soundchecks for the evening shows will start before noon.
The library will close at 4pm on October 26^th and 27^th. The Limona building is expected to be the only area where you’ll be able to work and study in quiet.
Library service will continue to be impacted by the set breakdown on October 28^th.

A limited number of work spaces has been available in the University Library since July 20^th. Our experience with this setup over the summer has been very good, and we carried it over into autumn. However, it’s already becoming apparent that the limited number of seats will cause shortages once the winter semester lectures start. The university and library administration feel beholden to giving priority to university members in providing work spaces. Therefore, starting on November 2^nd, only a limited number of non-members of the university can be granted access to the library.
We’d like to point out especially to students and university staff that the current number of free seats is displayed on the university website.

This week, from October 19th to 23rd 2020, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar holds its student orientation week. This year the University Library welcomes first semester students with a video clip titled »The University Library introduces itself«, which is available along with detailed further information and several other virtual tours on the orientation week page as well as on the University Library’s website. Both at the start of and during the semester we also offer guided tours through the library for small groups. If you’re interested, you’re very welcome to register for a tour on Congeno.

Handling personal data, also known as sensitive data, is a continual problem in current research. In cooperation with the local contact for reserch data management, the TKFDM network has published a fact sheet providing an overview of the most important legal aspects of the issue. It includes definitions of personal data and lists regulations for storing and archiving them. Further, it explains terms like pseudonymization and anonymization as relevant to minimizing the collection of personal data.
