1. Using the library in the summer semester – easing of coronavirus antimeasures and new hygiene plan

The 3G entry restrictions for higher education institutions were already lifted on March 19th 2022 when the new Thuringian infection prevention directive (»Thüringer Verordnung zur Regelung infektionsschutzrechtlicher Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung des Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2«) came into effect.
In addition and following the latest legal regulations, the university library is currently developing a hygiene plan that is to come into effect on April 4th 2022 and meant to further ease restrictions. One major change we are currently considering is that for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, we intend to no longer reduce visitor numbers by restricting entry. University members as well as guests would then be able to visit the library without having to be counted or registered. We expect to be able to make more study spaces available, reopen the lockers to keep personal materials overnight and enable groups up to 5 persons to book study rooms. Since all this makes it difficult to keep the minimum distance, library visitors will still be required to continuously wear masks during a library visit. The general hygiene precautions will likewise remain in effect.
We will keep you up to date about the hygiene plan’s approval and the easing of restrictions. Please make sure to additionally check our website and signs in the library building itself.

»In libraries, as places of living democracy, people may exert their rights to freedom of opinion, political education and social participation. Libraries provide information and enable access to reliable sources.« (from the Deutscher Bibliotheksverband statement, Feb 25th 2022)
The Weimar university library would like to contribute in this spirit in the current situation. Our Ukraine aid site lists all our related measures and services. We welcome refugees from Ukraine in the library and invite them to register library accounts easily and free of charge. We also list sources that provide reliable information on how to keep up to date about current developments. Further, we maintain the »UkrainianLit« listing of selected library items on Ukrainian history, politics and society as well as peace studies. The list is being updated continuously, and suggestions are welcome.
Selected books and DVDs are currently set up on a special shelf in the main building on floor -1.
