Observing people observing art
I was curious to see peoples reaction on my project and I decided to make a small experiment. I showed the visualization to some of my friends and didn't tell whats the point of it. I said that it is an interactive visualization and it reacts on them but didn't tell how exactly. So they had to figure it out by their own.
I wanted to see how fast they are going to realize that it changes when they smile and also I wanted to see if they smile observing art or they have other reaction instead.
When I said that they have to do something to make visualization change, first of all the start to move themselves and then sit straight to see if something changes. After they move the hands introns of camera. Probably I would do the same, the first thought that comes to your mind when you say interactive its movement. Even thought the smile is the most natural reaction, it takes some times to realize that visualization changes not because you are shaking your hands but because you are expressing your emotions.
I find it really interesting that people can interact with art without making any efforts but naturally expressing their emotions. When they realize it they get more emotional and when they get more emotional, the art changes more and so on. In that way creates the reactions loop.
To see better how it works and example of peoples reaction you can download the video at the following link:
