I am very interested in left behind materials/matters and specifically in the memories that they hold and carry. Of course the starting point of this research is to know how they came to be but also very importantly how did they stick around? Who actually lives there and what have they seen and heard during their lifetimes? Can they be categorized as bodies, objects, matters or living organisms, or is it even important to categorize them?

If there is a way to research these questions and come up with some of the conclusions, even metaphorically, would greatly interest me as I am researching how materials keep memories and document things we don’t even notice. More specifically, I was very intrigued by one type of orchid that grows in this specific “waste dump” setting. And I was wondering if there would be more creatures we will be discovering at the site. What is it that attracts them and what are the specific reasons they are thriving in these circumstances. So, in a way to know more about these non-human responses and reactions to the sites they are located on. And to see if there can be some kind of documentation or a recording that can be found within and through these creatures. What does their life cycle of life to death and back to life look like? I am not sure about the format of the outcome yet but I would focus on finding a way to document these invisible processes and memories to make them partially visible and traceable. And to try to approach these, in a way, out-of the ordinary creatures that we see living there in an out-of the ordinary way.

It is hard for me to imagine all the technical details, what kind of tools and processes I will be engaging with since they all depend on what we see and experience there. But in general, I would like to be involved in hands-on experimenting and experiencing. And trying to transform these impressions into a way of documenting that will fit the story.
