Description
Sensors and Actors are ubiquitous in mobile computers, smart phones and everyday electronics. A smart phone knows if it's upside down, detects the brightness of its surrounding - and also knows whether it rests in a calm environment or is carried by its owner. Touch sensitive surfaces, be it on screen or a dedicated touch pad recognizing gestures - unthinkable they'd not exist. Interaction today means the use of many sensory channels: blinking, buzzing, vibrating, playing melodies or even talking. Among popular technologies less well known sensors are explored or invented in experiments and later used in small devices which are exhibited at the end of the course.
The course is meant as an addition to the project Interaction and Experimental Interfaces - 30 cm³ with Prof. Geelhaar. Attendance without participation in the project can be discussed in a consultation in advance.
