Item IDs

Every item has a unique ID. The more expensive things have a little label on them starting with BUW followed by a number.
Less expensive things such as cables will be assigned a GMU ID, that should be on a little sticky label.

Sticky Labels

The sticky-label template for OpenOffice can be downloaded here.

Creating Item Pages

An item page is named after the ID of the item. This will allow everone to quickly find the wiki page of an item by its label, if they don't know the official term for the item.

Creating Named Pages

Named pages are useful for refering to items by name, especially if there are several identical items with different item IDs.
For example there is a generic page with a verbose title such as GMU:Equipment/Kinect. All item pages that belong to Kinect Cameras should redirect to this very page.

Naming Photos

  • If there are several items on the photo, they should be labeled with numbers ① to ⑨ .
  • Photos should be named according to the item ID of the item shown on the photo.
  • If there are several items on the photo, name it according to the item ID labeled ① on the photo.

Example 1

  • You took a photo showing a unicorn.
  • The unicorn has the item ID BUW 123456

Name the photo Equipment-BUW-123456.jpg

Example 2

  • There’s a Photo showing cables GMU 23, GMU 24 , GMU 25.
  • The items are labeled ①, ② and ③ on the photo.
  • The item with label ① is the cable with the item ID GMU 23.

Name the photo Equipment-GMU-23.jpg

(Note: you can even make nifty use of the Image Map extension so that you can click on items in the image and jump to the corresponding page/section for that item)
