Description / Kursinhalt
During her workshop, Cao Jing, lecturer at the College for Design and Innovation of Tongji University Shanghai, discusses "Participatory Community" as a conceptional design topic both in Weimar and Shanghai for further intercultural comparative exhibition. Cao Jing teaches service design and interaction design. In her workshop she will explore the term Community Empowerment. How does it relate to the concepts of Public Engagement, User Generated Content, and Social Computing? Media strategies and tools explored as a community engagement vehicle, aiming to inspire initiatives and conversation about sustainable views of the city.
The workshop is designed to enable students to develop social computing conceptions in the context of public engagement to enhance the connection of human, information, and environment. Participants of the workshop will explore the relationship between information and the context where it is generated and distributed, so therefore the projects will first have a component of user research, and then conception and implementation of the design. The choice of medium to present the concept depends on the interest and technical background of the participant. Concept video based on a physical prototyping and storytelling is most welcomed.
