Point of Time
Artist: Thomas Grill
Short Summary
The photographic picture, as a "Point of Time" - a mechanic glimpse - takes an event out of its context. Movement becomes standstill with the instantaneous moment of the exposure being arbitrarily stretched for deferred inspection. But what happens to the accompanying sonic environment? Visual and sonic snapshots have been taken simultaneously. By means of digital audio processing all time information is destroyed - virtually freezing the sonic image of the exposure moment. Out of this stagnancy new movement emerges. Just as motion is anticipated from the photographic image, the sense of hearing reconstructs sonic processes, seeking for clues within the expanse of noise.
