Those microorganisms cannot be seen with the naked eye but if the population increases, the medium becomes greenish. This is my target goal because that makes it easier to work with.

For having an overview of my work and making sure that I can work from home because of the not predictable Covid semester I build a little Euglena Workstation. It includes enough space to place all my tools and do experiments. Also, I can easily move it and position it to places which are reached by the sunlight to optimize Euglena’s growing.

After working with Euglena for a few weeks, it became clear to me that the cloudy autumn and winter weather outside will complicate my plans. Euglena needs the UV light of the sun to do photosynthesis and this expedites the reproduction.
I tried to replace this light source with an LED lamp which shone on the Euglenas for a couple of hours per day but of course the outcome was not successful and did not changed the actual state.
