Interests
I find that I’m interested in the subtle edges of perception. Often times when I use spatialization effects in theatre, I like to create the illusion of an augmented space, and then find the point at which those effects are barely perceived.
In electronic music I’ve always been very drawn to sounds that seem to fall somewhere between sounding acoustic and synthesized, as if they they could come from the real world, but are defamiliarized in some way.
I enjoy creating computer music instruments to use in live performance. I have primarily worked with granular synthesis.
Previous Work
Here is a piece Andy and I worked on using the Vroom Wall in the Calit2 theatre. We will be presenting another version of this on May 11th in the same space. For this piece, movement controlled the image but not the sound, and sound effected the image.

Here is the first piece I worked on involving the Kinect to control sound.
