Glowing Banknote tell the true story.
A banknote is a document that serves as a means of payment in a particular country. The banknote is a small poster that tells the story of a country. In this project we try to show that the true story is hidden behind the beautiful photo. Behind the laughing faces of politicians, men scream for help, crying the mothers and trembling children. Here you will not see famous politicians, people laughing and beautiful nature, but you can see the sad story that is happening right now!
The banknotes are public media. it means everyone knows them! You do not need to go to the museum to see them. that's why we think of it as a very powerful medium and want to use it to tell the true story of the countries!
But how?
The publishers of banknotes try to make their banknotes difficult to copy. They use different techniques to control the correct banknotes One of the techniques is: Fluorescent colors It is used printing ink containing fluorescent pigments. In short-wave UV light, depending on the choice of pigment, colors are emitted in the visible light spectrum. In this project instead of pigments we use bacteria to draw our pictures. So we have a connection between human, media and bacteria!
Which countries Which banknotes
we want to tell the story of the countries where currently in 2017-2018 goes wrong. War. Diseases . Poverty ... In this time there are many countries where there are war or countries in which the children starve to death. Some countries are economically blocked and do not get any medicines, so many die after illnesses.
Which medium ??
bioluminescence
distribution 1 Animals 2 mushrooms 3 protozoa 4 bacteria
In this project I use mushrooms and bacteria to illuminate the drawings Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by a living organism. It is a form of chemiluminescence. Bioluminescence is a form of chemiluminescence where light energy is released by a chemical reaction. This reaction involves a light-emitting pigment, the luciferin, and a luciferase, the enzyme component.
So we have a connection between humans, media and bacteria. You can see the normal photos on banknote, but when the light is off, the bacteria will glow and you'll see glowing photos telling the right story.

Preparing to grow Bioluminesence algae
1-Some oft hem are easier to see and produce brighter flashes than other
2-I orderd it by Carolina.com
3-Algae need plenty of light and nutrients to multiply in the osean.
4-We need Algae rowth Solution . Should be a natural solution made with real seawater
5-we need a clear container (glass or Plastik)
6-A 40Watt lamp
7-a place temrature = 22-25C
8-Cleaning no soap sterlize it
- they getting schocked by temprature change*
- Dont allow the Solution to sit in the sun*
9-12Uhr light
- Light should be placed about tree feet from the comtainer*
10-tern on the light a the same time in the morning and turn off at the same time at night
11_simulate the algae = it glow
- Dinoflagellates flash when water on stimulates them by pressing against their cell walles*
- the luminesences wont be as bright at first . since it will take a few weeks fort he algae population to restore itself*
Ability
they only glow when they are alive . so you can know are they dead or alive ! in this project we can use this Ability to draw . The positive area should be filled with live bacteria and negative area with dead bacteria.

Make Bacteria glowing :
bacteria need food to grow It should to be full of vitamins, amino acids, carbon, minerals and of course salt, without salt they won't live !
6.Desember
I tryed to Make Some Bacteria Food :
- TSA agar gel*
what I need : NaCI 2g . Yeast Extract 1g . Peptone 2g . Agar 3g . Fill with H2O up till 200 ml
+ Photobacterium
What ist Photobacterium
Tehy are a genus of Gram-negative bacteria and belong to the family of Vibrionaceae. Some members of this genus have the ability to produce light and are therefore bioluminescent
7.Desember
it is not glowing :(
14.Desember
they are growing but not glowing
20.Desember
I use this bacteria to draw
I want to see how many details are visible when they are growing

Modification of green fluorescent
I noticed that most artists used either bioluminecenses or fluresences bactera.
But what's new: modified with fluorescent protein! I tried to know, what is it? and how can I do that?
is a protein composed of 238 amino acid residues and shows a bright green fluorescence when exposed to blue to ultraviolet light.
The artists have used it for art projects and scientists have used it to highlighting specific structures.
Different proteins produce different fluorescent colors when exposed to ultraviolet light. (Picture taken by Erik A. Rodriguez.)
