Description
[T]he technical structure of the archiving archive also determines the structure of the archivable content even in its very coming into existence and in its relationship to the future. The archivization produces as much as it records the event. (Derrida - Archive Fever 17)
Collections and archives are part of our everyday lives, both physical and digital.
This course will investigate art and design approaches to physical and digital interfaces for the creation, organisation and display of archives, and explore the potential for interactions presented by these collections of objects, data and ideas.
Students will focus on designing and improving user and participant interactions with a view towards immersive experiences that support expanded forms for perceiving and engaging with archives.
Successful candidates are expected to develop the concept, design and realisation of their own approach to collection(s), centred on an interactive component employing contemporary methods such us physical computing, rapid prototyping and web technologies.
