According to the essay “Cognitive Enhancement: Methods, Ethics, Regulatory Challenges” by Nick Bostrom and Anders Sandberg, cognitive enhancement can be defined as an amplification or extension of essential mental abilities through improvement or increase of systems for the processing of internal and external information.
In the emerging contemporary suggestion on being able to manage our brain activities, it would be appropriate to ask if cosmetic neurology would imply a sort of framing of our brain activities that would affect inevitably our creative processes.
This approach can create an interface of ourselves: will be possible to select a specific mood (motivation, concentration, memory) for each situation that the artist has to face. What products for cognitive enhancement are required by the market? Will they become tools for workers or artists?
Corporations can modify or reshape our the relation with creativity, production and productivity? Artists should participate in this discussion critically.
