BioArt Projeckt

Planet Earth has evolved through the exercise of error and conscience. Man himself is just meat and materia, wich transforms it self into live energy only when he assimilates his cosmic and mistical personality. The human behaviour has the power to transform biosphere. As specie man is the most powerful biological force in existence: He consumes, disturbs, creates and destroys. Resembles more and more to a bacterium not satisfying of resourses, territory and power, fortifying his destroying nature and minimyzing his creator nature because of his predatory condition.

This projeckt is a personal pursuit in wich my coultural rooths and my actual state of mind are the protagonists. Through the magnification of the indiscernible I atemmt to open a discution in an simbolic and archetypic way abouth the escence and purpose if human live; building with the help of images, a bridge of symbiotic relation between past, pressent and future.

PAST: Represented by geometric schemes of animals originative of the indigenous culture “Salasaca” of the center zone of Ecuador (Province of Tungurahua). In the indigenous Ideology art is one of the essential ways of transmission of the culture and ancestral teachings, its also a tool of identification and a way of expression. The indigenous culture is characterized by its belief in the influence of natural forces and the constant feedback through of conscious energy with a lifestyle close to nature and gratitude rituals wich includes offerings and symbols.

PRESENT: My being is represented by my body. My external actual condition, the skin I live in, that covers my being and allows me to interact with this physical reality and with other forms of life in a symbiosis with bacteria.

FUTURE: Bacteria, which inhabitate my skin as anonymous guests in almost impossibles scales for an understanding. According to science, bacteria can survive under tough environmental conditions. They are capable of adaptation, forming colonies, mutation.

First Try STENCIL

== Process: ==

1 Step:

MEDIA

-Gluose -Peptone -Yeast extract -Distilled Water -Agar

Growing my own Bacteria

Bacteria Eyes

Face Bacteria

2 Step: Cut the pattern on a metallic surface.

"Salasaca Bird" Stencil Pattern

Pattern trimmed in a solution (100ml) of 1,5 g Agar + distilled water 100ml

Trimmed Agar fulled with solution (100ml) of peptone 0,5 g + agar 1,5 g + sugar 2 g and yeast 0,5g

Results after 7 days of placing the bacteria in the stencil area

Second Try DRAWING WITH BACTERIA

Process:

Using the bacteria-free area

Using my eyes bacteria for drawing

Result after 7 days

Third Try DRAWING ON STENCIL AREA

Process:

Using my Face bacteria after 14 days of incubation

Using an Agar base

Adding the stencil on the Agar platte

Waiting till it draws

Cutting the stencil area

Fulling trimmed Agar with mix of peptone, agar, sugar and yeast

Drawing on the stencil area with my face bacteria

RESULTS AFTHER 5 DAYS

RESULTS AFTHER 15 DAYS

Fourth try

Materials

MEDIA 1 100ml

-Antibiotic 0,30 g -Distilled water 100ml -Agar 1,5 g

MEDIA 2 100ml

-Glucose 2g -Peptone 0,5 g -Yeast extract -Distilled water 100ml -Agar 1,5 g

MEDIA 1 100ml

MEDIA 2 100ml

Results after 8 Days

In this case no bacteria grow but fungi from air.

CONCLUSIONS:

Use less Antibiotic and draw the bacteria with some tweezers using already growing bacteria. Be careful with the disinfected working area.
