Experiments with Processing
Experiment 1
During the first class on Processing I tried out different ways to control size, color and opacity of rectangles and circles on the screen. After that I managed to read out the values from Arduino Serial Monitor and to control position of one of the rectangles on the screen with a potentiometer and with an LDR.
Experiment 2
During my other experiments I tried to emulate dimming my screen by changing the brightness of Processing window's background according to the data from an LDR. (TODO: find out if I actually can control the screen brightness from Processing with the help of some library)
Perception Experiences in Ilmpark
During our class on the 11th of May I went to the Ilmpark and found a spot where I thought nobody else would go at least for the next half an hour. I tried to connect to the surrounding and to focus on very small objects and phenomena like sprouts, branches and dew drops. The object I have chosen as my "connector" to the natur was a dandelion flower. I didn't want to tear it off at first but then remembered how I always did it as a child and thought that it can actually be a good way to feel being closer to the pure nature so I did it.
I felt like drawing and started to draw the field of dandelions near me. It was not too hard but took some time.
With the second drawing I tried to capture the fractal complexity of just two branches which were close to me and which looked so elegantly after I stared at them for couple of seconds.
After finishing the drawing of branches I looked into the distance and suddenly realized that I could feel where exactly all the birds were singing from. It was an illusion of course, since the trees were pretty far away from me, but I wanted to capture this feeling by drawing sound sources over the landscape.
On the last drawing I tried to illustrate the complexity of grass leaves, of how they grow and intertwine. Seemingly regular and repeating pattern is actually incredibly complex and unobvious.
