Luminescent dance: the Algae Light spectrum
Explore the interaction between Chlamydomonas and light: how it affects the algae’s movement and density. Data collection, drawings, photos, making a small introduction to the work.
Installation:
- a frame with a depth and glass on both sides.
- Parallel plates with calque paper or sheer fabric: fragile and delicate material on which Chlamydomonas designs are drawn and with threads from outside the frame they can move and the density of the design’s changes.
- There is lighting and it gives a water mood to the collection. It would be much better if it could be connected to the threads in some way so that its light changes in proportion to the change in density.
- could be sound included
Purpose
- Pointing to the fragility and sensitivity of Chlamydomonas, while it is considered one of the most valuable single-celled species for humans and the environment.
- An interactive installation that shows the relationship between the algae and light; new information, new experience.
