We did some tests with resistive fabrics to understand if we could play this material as a sensor. Our intention was to realise the range of values that the this fabric could generate by being stretched or not.
One piece of fabric we cut in zig-zag, the other one was straight.
Here some values:
zig zag piece of 10cm = 0.7k ohm
stretching until 14cm= 0.55k ohm
straight fabric of 10cm = 0.45k ohm
stretching until 13cm = 0.18k ohm
Surprisingly the straight cut piece of resistive fibre showed higher resistive differences in the Multimeter but was not observable in the Analog Input of the Arduino. The ZigZag curve however was observable. Further on we need to attach this Material as a second layer on stretchable fabric to see if the value differences are high enough if only the muscle tension changes.
