Als Inspiration diente die Peckhamsche Mimikry, also die Emulation eines friedvollen Organismus durch „Räuber“ oder Parasiten. Der Roboter als anorganisches Wesen soll durch seine Motorik den Flügelschlag eines Vogels nachahmen und so einen spielerischen und fast poetischen Schleier über die kalte Maschinerie werfen. Letztlich bewegte sich der Roboter in gänzlich anderer Richtung als vermutet, wodurch der Origami-Vogel anstatt im endlosen Aufwärtsflug, im andauernden Sturzflug vorwärtsgetrieben wird.

The starting point of the project was inspired by Peckham‘s mimicry, i.e. the emulation of a peaceful organism by predators or parasites. The robot, as an inorganic being, was meant to mimic the flapping of a bird‘s wings through its motor functions, thus casting a playful, almost poetic veil over the cold machinery. In the end, the robot moved in a completely different direction than expected, propelling the origami bird forward in a continuous dive instead of an endless upward flight.
