THE CRANE

The Crane ist ein aus 2mm Sperrholz mit Lasertechnik geschnittener und zusammengesteckter Kran mit zwei Armen. Am einen Arm ist eine GoPro-Kamera befestigt, am anderen ein Blasrohr. Über einen Seilzug mit Griffen lässt The Crane sich bedienen. Tut man dies, filmt die GoPro entweder nach oben oder unten und das Blasrohr nutzt die hallende Akustik des „Wendeltreppen-Zylinders“ aus oder nicht. Als Teil der Performance sollte der tatsächliche Nutzen bewusst missverstanden und neue Formen der Interaktion gefunden werden. Die räumliche Trennung von In- und Output auf verschiedenen Ebenen verhindert rückwirkende Änderungen.

The Crane is made of 2mm laser-cut press wood with two arms. A GoPro camera is attached
to one arm and a blowhorn to the other. It can be operated via a pulley system with handles,
causing the GoPro to either film upwards or downwards, and the blowhorn to either utilize
the echoing acoustics of the „spiral staircase cylinder“ or not. As part of the performance,
the true purpose is deliberately misunderstood and new forms of usage are explored. The
spatial separation of input and output on different levels prevents retroactive changes.
