“Patriarchy is a social and political disease” says artist Marialuisa Capurso. 
The artist with her work wants to contribute to the healing: in a collective sound ritual she fights the power of masculinity.

Masculine dominance is deeply rooted in our society. It is precisely when we don’t talk about it that the time-honored patterns of patriarchy keep catching up with us. Sound artist Marialuisa Capurso is fighting back by collecting stories and creating impulses. As part of the Radio Art Residency at Bauhaus University Weimar, she created a space for mutual listening and healing rituals. Together with a group of Weimar women, she composed a radio piece about liberation and new beginnings.

Marialuisa Capurso is a singer, sound artist, composer and researcher in the fields of voice, performance, visual arts, improvisation and rituals. She graduated with a Bachelor in Jazz Music at the Conservatory “N. Piccinni” in Bari and with a Master in New Musical Languages at the Conservatory “N. Rota” in Monopoli. She has learned from and collaborated with musicians, dancers and artists worldwide: Meredith Monk, Patricia Pardi, Carl Berger, Kent Carter, William Parker, Faheem Mazar, among others.
