In cities worldwide, urban planners, citizens, and government offi cials are promoting environmental improvements such as increased green spaces, expanded bike infrastructure, pedestrianization, and car- free developments. These eff orts aim to create more sustainable and livable urban environments. However, as cities increasingly prioritize sustainability within their economic growth strategies, the link between environmental improvements and gentrifi cation has become more evident. In particular, greening initiatives can catalyze and signify gentrification, intersecting with city policies, housing market dynamics, and real estate development. This seminar will involve delving into academic literature and examining case studies. |
