In the Equal Opportunity Office, Tina Meinhardt, Equal Opportunity Officer, deputy Ricarda Löser, PhD, and the elected Equal Opportunity Advisory Board work together to ensure equal treatment of men and women as guaranteed by the constitution. One of the group’s central tasks is the promotion of women as well as helping to balance studies, a career, and family.
In addition, all Equal Opportunity Officers are involved in every decision and committee involving gender-related issues. This mainly concerns university staffing policies. The strategic orientation of university processes towards gender equality through gender mainstreaming continues to play a key role. Some of the current topics regarding gender equality include addressing the gender pay gap, the gender care gap (including mental load), the gender publication gap and gender bias in staff appointment procedures.
In spring 2021, the new Equal Opportunity Plan will be drawn up, laying out the binding standards and goals for the university and its various member groups in order to integrate the topic of equality even further into everyday life at the university.
The Equal Opportunity Officer and her deputy offer advice on the following topics:
- Balancing studies, a career, and family
- Cases of experienced or observed sexual discrimination or violence
- Gender-sensitive promotion of young talent
- Gender-appropriate application submission for projects funded by third parties
