IT'S ABOUT THE PROCESS - VIDEOINSTALLATION
Video: ca 100 video clips - 16min (loop for 3 hours)
Media: 3 x Full Hd Projector 1 x Flatscreen
Location: Alte Notenbank - Pufferraum (between Saal 1 & 2) Steubenstraße 15; 99423 Weimar
Idee of the Installation: The video is running as a loop for 3 hours. Every Projector or flatscreen shows the same video with ca 5min time difference. Just the biggest Projection is showing the sound to the video.
Questions: How will the viewer react? Will the viewer notice that it is the same video?
Result: It was really interesting to see the different reactions. I guess 100 small videos in this short time, are a reason why most of the visitors/viewers were not even recognizing that's all about the same video. Maybe it is to hard recognize evey single video in this short time. The information overload is just too high. For this reason, a lot of people thought that they saw a video the first time, even if they already saw it. The short time of every video was also a reason why the visitors of the exhibition stayed longer because they always wanted to see the next situation, which was usually not connected with the first one. For this exhibition, I got really good feedback and some people even stayed around one hour. Some switches of the videos worked well together, some of them are still developable.
The whole exhibition was a good first try to see the videos in the field of installation and trill me to learn more about video installation and the whole technique behind it.
