Mahmoud Kamel /Provocative Architecture
Idea
As I came to Weimar my memories of the fairy tale Alice in Wonderland reignited by the architecture of it, the randomness and the diversity of the environment gave me the sensation of literally being in a fairy tale. For this reason I will call upon my passion for the story and bring it to life as its a childhood dream to be able to breath life into our fantasies.
Application
Using Alice in Wonderland and Through the looking glass references and symbols I will demonstrate that the story itself could be represented in the city of Weimar with a connection between the very European architecture of the buildings and the natural flora that surrounds it and then photographing it. The symbols will be placed in order of appearance and importance in their respective representing environment e.g. The Queen of hearts' heart symbol will be projected on a house with an architecture similar to a castle or fortress.
