The Right Level
The Right Level by Jan Dittrich
The Project deals with health, marketing and the idea of body extensions. I will design a fictive campaign for extensional organs which provide medicine produced via synbio technology - like a biorecator-to-go, designed for your specific needs. Pills would only be taken to configure the bioreactor.
The "invention" of this would be useful because...
- For chronic diseases, a constant supply of medicine is needed. The spread of chronic diseases remain on the or are rising in the coming years. Examples would be diabetes, heart problems, Alzheimer's disease, depression, shizophrenia...
- The amount of substances produced could be set by a feedback loop constantly checking indicators in the blood: The patient would get the best dose for his/her needs.
- Some times pills are forgotten or therapy is deliberately stopped. The therapy reliance could be increased if taking pills would pose no work any more. This is especially a problem in psychiatric illnesses, since motivation is often lowered by the disease.
The "invention" poses as well a lot of interesting questions and problems
- We become more cyborg-like with these artificial organs.
- Therapy can't be stopped by free will to do so if now "reconfiguration" pills are available. (this could be solved by making a special though available food a stop-trigger, which is not to be eaten in the time of therapy)
- The organ would probably be based on the technology of a certain pharma company. They basically decide about the possibilities, how the process can be triggered, stopped etc.
Dealing especially with psychiatry it becomes especially important to consider that the medicine alters the way you feel and therefore possibility your personality. This is not necessary a bad thing but must be considered. A very important point would be that it is possible that due to marketing or society there are rules formed how one should feel and behave. There are a lot of advertisements promoting a active, motivated, high-performing behavior.
What if we get *all* our dose of neurodrugs every day, so that everybody is active and motivated ?
execution
I want to design a fictional campaign for the artificial organ/bioreactor focusing on neurodrugs.
Hello Jan, sounds good, so how are you going to proceed? Have you had a look on the pink army link Dominik posted? --sebastian 15:52, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

And where are the images? Designverweigerung? By the way: I am very pleased to see that you are still on the project, as we haven't seen you in a while. --sebastian 15:53, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
