Revision as of 17:13, 11 April 2018
Lecturer: Mindaugas Gapševičius
Credits: 6 ECTS, 4 SWS
Date: Wednesdays 17:00-20:30
Venue: Marienstraße 7b, Biolab (Room 202)
First meeting: Wednesday, 11 April 2018; 17:00-20:30
During the course we will focus on organisms available at the DIY Biolab and will compare their habitats outdoors. Is there any difference in fruit flies, euglenas and a slime mold physarum polycephalum living in the lab and the Ilmpark? Is it possible to build an alternative habitat for them indoors? Students will be invited to choose an organism, to define its habitat and to explore its activity in connection to resources such as light, food, oxygen, and electricity. The experiments will finally lead to an artistic approach.
Advanced students will also be offered to develop an interactive system, which would combine organisms and technologies available at the Media Environments’ professorship (DIY Biolab, Performance Platform). Therefore participants are invited to take a parallel course in Max/MSP visual programming.
