Accessorizing Nature
The course "Design with Fungi" offered the possibility to work in the Biology Laboratorium with a Fungi called Fomes Fomentarius.
By letting the Fungi grow in a controlled setting, the outcomes were endless to use its amazing structure for artworks.
This Project is called "Accessorizing Nature".

The motivation behind this project is to show appreciation for nature by designing wearable accessories.
Being in love with jewelry and the special meaning they can possess, made this project come to life.
The mirrors are a symbol for beauty and reflect both the creator and the created.

In total there are two mirrors, two pairs of earrings, two seperate necklaces and a pendant.
The finished jewelries are made to be worn with condifence.
The mirrors are there to be integraded as a practicality for the daily lifestyle.
Knowing that a lot of hard work got put into this project, not only from making it, but mainly from the
Fungi to grow so perfectly, makes it incredibly unique and holds great energies.

By using a living organism for the production of a product, it ensures an eco-friendly material and gives an
organic structure.
It is subjectively aesthetically pleasing and super light weight.
It gives off a felty feeling when touched, which makes it very soothing to sense.
Overall a phenomenal material to work with.

Building with mushrooms is a website that shows various methods to use Fomes Fomentarius in even
further ways then accessories.
