Fields of Research
Examining pictorial grammar in moving images, and experimental development of new concepts and aesthetics ranging from video art to narration, documentation and to assignments for industrial use (e.g. promotional clips);
Exploring the relationships between form and content, methodology and technology, context and public in audiovisual production;
Examining the relations between text, image and sound, their role and impact in different applications in art, media, culture and commerce;
Staging digital moving images in a cross-media context, for example as video projections in public space, as part of a multimedia interface, in mobile devices, via video streaming etc.;
The aim is to achieve high quality results in art and design with moving pictures. Our efforts were supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft with 3 major grants for professional video equipment (1996, 1999, 2001) and by a substantial aid from the Thuringian government (2016).
Research efforts are shown and evaluated continuously in the works of the students (Bachelor, Master, PhD), of the post-graduate scholarship recipients as well as in the research projects of the assistant teachers.
