LOOPING!
Video at the Faculty of Art and Design, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, 2001–2002
The travelling exhibition was initiated by the Erfurter Kunstverein (art association, Erfurt) and conceived with Prof. Herbert Wentscher and Frank Westermeyer. It was produced in collaboration with the City Gallery at Villingen-Schwenningen and Sønderjyllands Art Museum, Tønder, Denmark. Financial support came from the Thuringian Ministry of Science, Research and Art and the cultural foundation of the Thuringian and Hessian savings banks. The exhibition was also shown at the European Media Art Festival, Osnabruck and at RaumEins, Schwarzes Kloster, Freiburg. A condensed version was presented at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Strasbourg and at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Toulouse, France.
Four programs with a total running time of four hours, presented on four monitors, included 26 videos by 40 students, ranging from short narrative films, documentaries, animations, music videos to video art and performance videos. Besides numerous video stills, the catalogue publication contains texts (in German only) by Dr. Gerhard Schweppenhäuser, by Herbert Wentscher, and interviews with the authors of the videos, conducted by Frank Westermeyer.
